Tiny Desk AI: make your own mini desk concert

In October 2026 an AI parody placed five college football coaches into a 2023 desk-concert performance of "Outstanding". Here is what Tiny Desk AI refers to, and how to animate your own photo, your pet or a character you drew into a new mini desk concert, without that recording or its song.

This generator runs Kling 2.6 image to video: upload a photo, pick a mini desk scene below and get a 5-second silent clip for 55 credits. It animates your own photo; it does not place anyone into the original concert.

What is Tiny Desk AI?

On June 5, 2023, NPR Music published a Tiny Desk concert by Charlie Wilson, the singer long associated with The Gap Band. The set list on NPR's page ends with "Outstanding". A Sport & State article on October 22, 2026, identifies that song as The Gap Band's 1982 record and says a clip of this performance was already moving around on TikTok.

Later that October, after Saturday, October 17, when five teams ranked in the top seven lost, Nashville songwriter Jake Whipple made a short vertical parody. Sport & State reports that he started from about 30 seconds of Wilson's performance and used an AI video tool to place photos of five coaches whose teams had just lost — Kirby Smart, Kalen DeBoer, Steve Sarkisian, Marcus Freeman and Curt Cignetti — into the clip. The article describes a result of about 19 seconds that passed 2 million views on TikTok, and estimates about 10 million views on X. Those coaches did not play the concert.

Pages selling a Tiny Desk AI video ask for a photo and return a copy of that concert clip with the song still in it. This page does not. It makes a new silent clip of you, your pet or a character you drew, performing at a small desk with one microphone. The NPR recording, the song and anyone else's likeness stay out of the file.

How to get a good mini desk clip

01

Start from one clear photo

Use one subject, face or muzzle visible, on a simple background. A vertical photo gives a vertical clip: Kling 2.6 image to video follows the shape of the picture you upload.

02

Name the performance

Ask for a small wooden desk, one microphone, a short joyful chorus, a gentle sway and a smile. A vague prompt such as "a concert" produces a generic stage.

03

Want the small-desk look?

Image to video keeps the scene of your photo. For a wooden desk, one microphone and a warm lamp, first restyle the picture with Nano Banana 2.1 for 8 credits, then animate that result. 8 plus 55 is 63, which the 64 sign-up credits can cover.

04

Pets and drawings work too

A pet behind a tiny desk, or a character you drew, is often the clearer joke and needs nobody else's permission.

05

Test at 5 seconds first

A 5-second clip costs 55 credits. Once the motion looks right, make the 10-second version for 110.

06

Add a sound you can use

Kling 2.6 clips here have no audio, and this page does not attach the concert recording. When you post, pick a sound you have the right to use from your app's library.

Mini desk scenes to start from

Each scene assumes you uploaded a photo of yourself, your pet or a character you drew. Keep the desk, the microphone and the motion; change small details to make it yours.

  • Small desk chorus

The person in the photo sits at a small wooden desk with one microphone and sings a short, joyful chorus, shoulders swaying, then smiles at the camera. Keep the face, hair and clothes from the photo. Warm lamp light, a close room, steady camera, smooth natural motion, no readable text.

  • Laughing close-up

The person in the photo sings into one microphone on a small desk, then tips their head back and laughs, happy and surprised. Keep the face and outfit from the photo. Warm light, shallow depth of field, steady close shot, smooth motion, no readable text.

  • Pet at the desk

The pet in the photo sits behind a small wooden desk with one microphone, paws raised, mouth open as if joining a chorus, looking very pleased. Keep its fur, markings and the room from the photo. Funny, smooth motion, steady camera, no readable text.

  • Drawn character

The drawn character in the image performs at a wooden desk with one microphone, swaying and singing with a big smile. Keep the character's design. Soft colored-pencil look, warm lamp, steady camera, smooth motion, no readable text.

  • Lamp-lit practice

The person in the photo practices at their own desk at night, one small microphone, a single warm lamp, a gentle sway, then a quiet smile. Keep the face, clothes and room from the photo. Handheld phone camera, smooth motion, no readable text.

FAQ

Tiny Desk AI FAQ

Short answers about the meme and making your own clip.

What is Tiny Desk AI?

A name for an October 2026 meme: an AI parody that placed photos of five college football coaches into a short piece of Charlie Wilson's June 5, 2023 NPR concert, over The Gap Band song "Outstanding". The coaches did not perform that concert.

Which concert and which song is the meme based on?

NPR Music published Charlie Wilson's Tiny Desk concert on June 5, 2023, and the set list on that page ends with "Outstanding". Sport & State identifies the song as The Gap Band's 1982 record.

Did those coaches really play a desk concert?

No. Sport & State describes Jake Whipple's clip as an AI parody made after the October 17, 2026 losses. It is not footage of Kirby Smart, Kalen DeBoer, Steve Sarkisian, Marcus Freeman or Curt Cignetti performing at NPR.

How do I make my own mini desk clip?

Upload a photo of yourself, your pet or a character you drew, pick a mini desk scene, choose 5 or 10 seconds and generate. The file is a new silent clip, not a copy of the concert.

Can I make one for free?

Yes. Eligible new accounts get 64 free credits, enough for one 5-second Kling 2.6 clip at 55 credits. For more, the Mini Pack is $6.99 for 400 credits, enough for 7 such clips.

Can I use my pet or a drawing?

Yes. Use a photo with the whole subject in frame and the pet or drawn-character scene. One subject per clip.

Does Nano AI place someone into the original concert?

No. It animates your photo into a new clip. It does not copy the concert recording, its song or anyone else's likeness, and it makes one subject per clip.

Is Nano AI affiliated with NPR, Tiny Desk Concerts, Charlie Wilson or The Gap Band?

No. Nano AI is an independent AI image and video generator. It is not affiliated with NPR, Tiny Desk Concerts, Charlie Wilson or The Gap Band, and Tiny Desk is not a feature of this site.
