What is Nano Banana Pro?

Nano Banana Pro is Google's premium model for generating and editing images. Its official name is Gemini 3 Pro Image and its model ID is gemini-3-pro-image. Google released it as a preview on November 20, 2025 and made it generally available on May 28, 2026.

Google describes it as a reasoning-driven model for professional work: complex graphic design, high-fidelity product mockups and data visualizations that need accurate text. It reasons through a prompt before it renders, outputs up to 4K through Google's API and accepts up to 14 reference images in one request.

On Nano AI you use Nano Banana Pro in the browser with no API key and no setup. Every image costs 32 credits, shown on the button before you generate. The 16 free credits of a new account do not cover a Pro image; they cover 2 images on Nano Banana 2.1, which sits in the same model menu.

What Nano Banana Pro is good at

01

Complex, layered prompts

Google positions Pro as its premium choice for the most demanding visual work, where one prompt carries many objects, a set layout and exact instructions.

02

Text that reads as written

Google names accurate text rendering as a reason to pick Pro: infographics, menus, diagrams and marketing layouts where a headline or a label has to be spelled correctly.

03

Three kinds of reference image

Through Google's API, Pro accepts up to 14 references: 6 objects, 5 characters and 3 style references. Nano AI currently accepts 5 reference images per edit.

04

It reasons before it renders

Pro is a thinking model. It works through the composition first and then renders the final image, which helps with prompts that have several constraints at once.

05

Grounded in Google Search

Through Google's API the model can look up current facts, such as a weather forecast, before it draws them. That control is not exposed on Nano AI yet.

06

A final pass, not a first draft

At 32 credits, Pro costs four times as much as Nano Banana 2.1 here. A common way to work is to draft on 2.1 at 8 credits and rerun the prompt that works on Pro.
